3 Tips for Avoiding Shoulder Pain

HomeBlog3 Tips for Avoiding Shoulder Pain

It’s common to experience shoulder pain as you age or go about your daily responsibilities. While some pain is the result of sports injury or auto accident and therefore can’t be predicted or necessarily prevented, there are steps you can take for avoiding shoulder pain caused by everyday life. Here are three of the top tips to help you avoid this type of pain.

3 Tips for Avoiding Shoulder Pain

  1. Stretch. One of the biggest causes of shoulder pain is muscle tightness. Stretching your shoulder muscles will help you avoid this tightness. It’s also important to stretch every time you plan on working out, as exercise related injuries are often caused by a failure to stretch beforehand.
  1. Exercise. Speaking of working out, be sure to put your muscles to use by exercising them regularly without putting too much of a strain on them. The more you neglect your shoulder muscles, the more at risk they become to getting hurt. Stronger muscles are much less prone to injury, so exercise your shoulder muscles at the gym or even with at home work-outs.
  1. Improve posture. Your posture can influence many different parts of your body, not just your neck and back. For example, poor posture while sitting at a desk can affect how tight your shoulder muscles are and can even cause you to extend your shoulder past where they should be while sitting, so sit up straight and avoid slouching as much as possible.
