We at Encompass Chiropractic Centers have noticed neck pain becoming more common in recent years. There are many things that can cause neck pain, but one of the most common causes these days is spending a lot of time on your computer or phone, as staring at screens has been shown to create stressful neck postures.

In this article, our team will go over three things you can do to prevent neck pain before it starts. If these methods do not work, then we encourage you to come to one of our three offices for a more thorough assessment.
- Change Your Sleep Habits – One thing you can do to prevent neck pain is change your pillow or sleeping position. You may be experiencing neck pain because your sleeping position puts stress on your spine or because your pillow is not supporting you sufficiently. Our team can help assess your sleep position and recommend changes to relieve neck pain.
- Adjust Your Computer Setup – As we mentioned above, neck pain is often associated with screen time. Many people do not practice good posture or ergonomics when working at a computer. The good news is that making some simple improvements to your desk setup can help fix this. For a start, we encourage you to place your monitor at eye level, so you don’t have to strain your neck by looking down.
- Stretch Regularly – A third thing you can do to prevent neck pain is to stretch regularly. Our team can show you an effective stretching routine to relieve tension in your neck and shoulders.
