Knee pain is a common symptom of many different tasks and aspects of daily living. If you’re currently experiencing knee pain, there are a few different potential culprits. Here are three of the most common causes of knee pain.
- Injury. A knee injury can be caused from a variety of different scenarios. For example, auto accidents can result in pain in many different areas of your body depending on where the point of impact was on your body. Other injuries, including ones caused by sports or falls, can cause problems for your knee that can have lasting effects if not treated.
- Long-term stressors. Your knee can take on a lot of stress from your daily activities, including from your hobbies. Long-distance runners, for example, put lots of stress on their knees from running downhill or on rough terrain or from failing to properly stretch and warm up before they run. Other long-term stressors include kneeling for long periods of time or sudden twisting or unnatural bending.
- Overweight. Knee pain is a common symptom of being overweight, as the knee is subjected to higher pressure from the additional weight it’s carrying. Seeing a nutritionist can help if you are overweight to help you safely lose weight and alleviate that pressure on your knee.
